The Interurban's service came to an end on June 5th, 1955. The lines used were "completely dieselized" and were abandoned in Williamsville on March 31, 1962 (qtd. in Jenkins). The Interurban Depot in Williamsville would lose purpose and eventually be used as a house. It was demolished in the 1960s, around the same time that the lines were abandoned ("Illinois Terminal System"). The Interurban played a major role in the community by providing jobs and transportation from small towns to other small towns for the citizens in Williamsville.
